PS. The final will be played on 11th April at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva. Sincerely 13/03/08 Recent statements, on behalf of two Trinidad & Tobago umpires who were not selected for regional duty appear to be littered with many inaccuracies which attempt to obfuscate the basic facts of the matter. The relevant facts are that the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Umpires and Scorers Council (TTCUSC) selected six (6) umpires namely Messrs Terrence Birbal, Basheer Ali, Khemraj Barrsingha, Peter Nero, Rawle Richards and Joel Wilson and recommended them, in order of merit, for appointment to regional games during the 2007/2008 season. (see documents attached) The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board endorsed these and submitted the list, unchanged, to the West Indies Cricket Board. This was the list of umpires recommended by TTCUSC for consideration by WICB and neither Hayden Bruce nor Keso Dowlath were included. When the schedule of appointment of umpires was first published on the website and it was noticed that names (Dowlath and Bruce) appeared which were not among those on the recommended list submitted by the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Umpires and Scores Council, the error was brought to the attention of the WICB who immediately corrected the mistake. Yours sincerely 11th March, 2008 The following players have been selected to represent Trinidad & Tobago National Senior Team in their 2008 Carib Beer Series Match against Combined Campuses & Colleges at 3W’s Oval in Barbados from 14th to 17th March. Cricket Board Guardian Life To be held at EVENTS: Looking forward to your presence! 12th February, 2008 Carib Sunday League – Round 16 & Carib 20/20 Competitions Due to the heavy rainfall on Sunday 10th February 2008 the National League Committee met in emergency and decided that the Carib Sunday League Competition Round 16 is to be replayed on Saturday 16th February 2008. As a result, the Carib 20/20 Competition will be postponed from Wednesday 13 February 2008 and will now commence on Wednesday 20th February 2008. Sincerely STAND-IN West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo has been included in a T&T 13-man-squad for their upcoming quarterfinal match-up against St Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday in the Stanford Twenty20 tournament in Antigua. Bravo has also been made vice-captain of the team, which was runner-up to Guyana in the inaugural tournament in 2006. Also included in the team is wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin. Both Bravo and Ramdin were members of the West Indies team that was beaten 5-0 by South Africa in the recently concluded ODI series and 3-1 in the four-match Test series. According to the CEO and general secretary of the T&T Cricket Board, Forbes Persaud, the duo got the necessary clearance from former Test batsman Adrian Griffith of the Stanford cricket committee. Bravo and Ramdin have replaced newcomers Ahmed Mohammed and Andre Browne, who were emergency fieldsmen in the team's opening match of the tournament. T&T defeated St Lucia by eight wickets last Saturday at the Stanford Recreation Ground. Fast bowler Ravi Rampaul, who was also a member of the West Indies one-day squad in South Africa, failed to get the nod from the selectors. Bravo and Ramdin both played in a specially arranged Twenty20 match on Thursday night at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre, with the former showing good form with the bat. The right-handed Bravo struck a blistering 60 in 34 minutes off 31 balls with seven fours and two sixes in a losing effort against a team led by Daren Ganga. Also back in the fray is former West Indies wicketkeeper David Williams, who will again take on the responsiblity of coaching the unit. The pint-sized Williams was assistant coach to Australian John Dyson in the just concluded tour of South Africa. Williams has replaced former T&T allrounder Kelvin Williams, who was appointed by the local board, for the first two matches of the Carib Beer Regional Cricket Series. The T&T team leaves on Monday for Antigua. PS. Brian Lara has a shoulder injury and will undergo a fitness test on Wednesday 2nd January, after which the squad will be reduced to thirteen (13) players. Manager : Omar Khan Sincerely December 28, 2007 Brian Charles Lara returns to local cricket At a press conference called by Mr. Deryck Murray - President of the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board last Friday, he announced that the World Record holder has signaled his availability to play in the upcoming regional series. With the absence of many of the top Trinidad players on WI duty and facing the added prospect of Adrian Barath & Darren Bravo going off to the U-19 World Cup, the addition of Brian Lara would only help in knowledge and experience. Brian has indicated he always wanted to give back something to Trinidad Cricket and his offer to be part of our 2008 team is timely and most welcomed. His sudden resignation at the end of the world cup, left us little opportunity for our cricket lovers to say thank you and goodbye, his return therefore opens that chance to see him once again. Mr. Murray went on to explain that his interest is only in playing the longer game, having retired from the One Day Game at the end of the World Cup held here in the Caribbean in 2007. Currently he is overseas and is expected back within a few days for the first encounter which is versus Guyana at the Queens Park Oval, starting on Jan 4th 2008. The Trinidad & Tobago Cricket team has six (6) games between January and the end of March (three games here and three games overseas) before a possible final in April 2008. 20th December, 2007 National Senior Team Trial
