Caroni Cricket celebrates
February 14, 2008

ALESCON COMETS captured the lion's share of trophies at the 60th annual prize-giving function of the Caroni Cricket Association, held on Saturday night at the auditorium of Presentation College, Chaguanas. The well-disciplined Charlieville-based team captured the Bert's Sports Under-15, 17 and 19 titles. Also holding the limelight was Ansar Ali of Stranglers who scored the most runs (141) in the Premier Division.

The well-organised function was attended several top officials including T&T Cricket Board executive members - Richard Williams and Lalman Kowlessar. Also among the distinguished gathering were Councillors Narsingh Rambarran and Sahadeo Boodoo.

Persaud heaps praises on Central Zone 

CHIEF Executive Officer of the T&T Cricket Board, Forbes Persaud, heaped praises on executive of the Central Zonal Council for the professional manner in which they have conducted their business over the years.

Persaud was speaking at the official launch of the 2008 season, which was held last weekend at Lange Park in Chaguanas.

He praised the sponsors -Tile Warehouse Limited, who has pumped close to $25,000 for the zone's inaugural Twenty20 tournament.

Chairman of the zone, Councillor Narsingh Rambarran was high in praise for the generous sponsorship by Tile Warehouse Limited and urged the players, to use these matches to enhance their performance by creating friendship and to build support in various villages.
