Coaching Course OUT of favour T&T and West Indies fast bowler Ravi Rampaul was one of twenty participants who were successful at the West Indies Level One Coaching Course which was held last week at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Development Centre at Balmain, Couva. Rampaul who is eyeing a return to the T&T national team for the up-coming West Indies Limited Overs Championships in Miami, was one of four senior national cricketers who passed the exams. The others were allrounders Rayad Emrit and Samuel Badree and wicketkeeper/batsman Gibran Mohammed. Leading in the exams were Geet Harripaul and Sunil Beepath. Among the facilitators were West Indies Cricket Board Territorial Officer in Barbados, Wendell Coppin, former West Indies Women’s Test captain, Stepanie Power, T&T’s national coach, Kelvin Williams, and West Indies Cricket Board Level Two coach, Roy Saroop. The participants went several modules on how to coach, fitness in cricket, batting, bowling and fielding drills, bio-mechanics and skills acquisation. Presentations were further enhanced by video footage. At a short function which followed the conclusion of the course on Friday, Coppin expressed his delight at having T&T and West Indies players in the course. “ They were role models for the other participants and especially the kids,” Coppin stated. CEO and General Secretary of the T&T Cricket Board, Forbes Persaud was high in praise of the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment shown. “ I am extremely happy at the enthusiasm shown by the senior cricketers. They led by example. I am looking forward for more Level One and Two courses later this year,” Persaud said.
