| TTCB – News Dr Dolly to counsel
six youngsters NO FURTHER disciplinary actions will be taken against the six T&T youth cricketers, who were sent home for various reasons in the just concluded TCL Group West Indies Cricket Challenge in Barbados. This was stated yesterday by CEO and General Secretary of the T&T Cricket Board, Forbes Persaud. Promising allrounder Yannick Cariah, left-arm spinner Javed Boodram, spinner Kareem Jumadeen, batsmen Marc Panchu and Ako George, along with left-arm pacer Nicholas Rampersad were sent home by the tour management committee, headed by team manager William Wallace, after consultation with the executive of the T&T Cricket Board, headed by president, Deryck Murray. The six were found guilty for breach of protocol, breaking curfew and several other acts of indiscipline which cannot be revealed. Persaud said that himseld and Murray met with the youngsters and their parents last week and a counselling programme is being worked out for them with Dr Franklyn Dolly. “ Dr Dolly was out of the country last week and he is set to return later this week. We will be organising a meeting with him to arrange counselling with the youngsters,” Persaud said. He stated that the players have expressed remorse at their actions and will doing all that they can to redeem themselves. And TCL Group Public Relations Manager, Michelle Langton has also offered to assist the six players and is in the process of arranging a meeting with them. The decision to send home the players severely affected the team’s bowling and the chances of capturing the three-day championship. |
