| TTCB – News Top-Class
cricketers in CLICO Preysal team IT WAS another great year for the CLICO Preysal Sports Club, as they have produced six top class cricketers on both national and international levels. They include Amit Jaggernauth, Kjorn Ottley, Yannic Cariah, Vedesh Maraj, Ryan Hurley and Miguel Nedd who have excelled, as they continue to move up the ranks in the cricket world. Demonstrating great success on the pitch, the CLICO Preysal Cricket team performed extraordinarily, with team members earning accolades for their hard work and diligence. Dubbed the National Cricketer of the Year, Preysal’s Amit Jaggernauth was T&T’s leading wicket–taker in the Carib Beer Series regional tournament, ending with 41 wickets. His outstanding performance earned him a position on the West Indies team for the 2008 Digicel Home Series against Sri Lanka and Australia. He then went on to his Test debut, for the West Indies in the first Test match against Australia in Kingston, Jamaica. With a bright future ahead, Preysal’s dynamic duo, Yannic Cariah and Kjorn Ottley were selected to attend the national trials in preparation for the 50-overs tournament being held in Ft. Lauderdale, United States later this year. Key members of Preysal were also on the elite Trinidad & Tobago Under-19 Team who won the Limited Overs Tournament of the TCL Group WICB Under-19 Overs Championship. At the T&TCB presentation function, yet another accomplishment was added to Cariah’s achievements - “Most Promising Young Spinner”. Fellow team members, Vedesh Maraj and Miguel Nedd also distinguished themselves, as Maraj was chosen as one of five for the Reserve League Cricketers of the year, while Nedd scored most runs. The Preysal team also took second place in the Eastern Credit Union National Reserve League. Preysal had a victory hat trick, becoming the only three-time winners of the Limited Overs 20/20 Tournament since its inception in 2006, with member and former Barbados and West Indies allrounder Hurley being awarded the Player of the Series. The team then went on to take first place in the Reserve League Limited Overs (40) Tournament, where Preysal’s Ottley was named Player of the Tournament. |
