and Dinner Sheppard is ‘Parkites’ ‘Sportsman of the Year’ ...... Narine named top cricketer Promising footballer Jason Sheppard was last night named as the Queen’s Park Cricket Club’s ‘Sportsman of the Year’ at it’s annual awards and dinner function. The gala ceremony took place at the club’s ‘Banquet Hall’ at the Queen’s Park Oval. It is the second time in four years that Sheppard has copped the club’s ‘Footballer of the Year’ award. Sheppard was also voted as the Northern Football Association’s ‘Footballer of the Year’ in 2007. This year, Sheppard played a major role in helping his team to capture the NFAs league championship. Former T&T and West Indies Under-19 off-spinner Sunil Narine won the ‘Cricketer of the Year’ title ahead of T&T and West Indies allrounder, Kieron Pollard, T&T’s batsmen Daron Cruikshank, Kevon Cooper and Justin Guillen. The Peter Waithe Award for the ‘Youth Cricketer of the Year’ went to promising allrounder Kevon Cooper. Well-known administrator Stephen Almandoz was the recipient of the Kingston Trophy,while the Phil Thompson ‘Youth Personality of the Year’ award was won by talented cricketer Nicholas Arthur.
