| TTCB – News Persaud gets A plus rating from zonal officials December 27th, 2008 NAZ YACOOB Glowing tributes have been showered on Chief Executive Officer and General Secretary of the T&T Cricket Board, Forbes Persaud, for the tremendous job that he is doing in running the day to day affairs of the local organisation. These sentiments were echoed by several leading zonal and affiliates administrators in light of certain comments made by former national cricketer Bryan Davis and a former T&TCB administrator. William Wallace, President of the Secondary Schools Cricket League, an organisation that Persaud led for many years described the CEO as the 'hub' of the organisation and one who plays a pivotal role to everything good that is that is happening in local cricket. "The SSCL ws elated and extremely happy when Persaud became CEO and General Secretary of the board since since a lot of development prograammes which includes the Star Programme, High Performance Centres and Development Tours, were things which we have been clamouring for under the former administration and these were only implemented under the present administration and we are already seeing the results. People who are critical of Persaud are people who are either ignorant or people with their own agenda. "Just look at Persaud's CV and his track record and I say that any sane mind would conclude that sports administrators like Persaud are difficult to find," Wallace boasted. In 2007, Persaud received a National Award, Medal for Merit, for his contribution to Sports and Cricket Administration. In that same year he was also honoured by Queen's Park Cricket Club for his contribution to cricket administration while in 1994 the Ministry of Education presented him with a national award for education and national development. Also batting for Persaud was chairman of the South Zone of the T&TCB,Leo Doodnath, who described Persaud as the "live wire" of the organisation. "I have a lot of respect and administration for this gentlemen who has brought a lot of credibility to this organisation including the various stake holders including members, players, sponsors, ministry of Sport and SPORTT and he is indeed an asset to local cricket administration. He is indeed the 'live wire' of the board. ," Doodnath stated. National under 17 coach and chairman of the East Zone ,Tarrandath Sammy, was also high in praise for Persaud and the current administration. "I had the pleasure in the 80's of having Persaud as manager/coach of the East Zone under 19 team of which I was a member and he did an excellent job. I feel very proud today to be working alongside people like Persaud and Murray and to be a part of so many good things that are happening in local cricket. I feel so happy when members of the general public meet you on a daily basis and express commendation as to the good job that this present administration is doing," Sammy pointed out. At the recent prize giving ceremony of the South-West Zone chairman Krishendath Ramoutar also paid tribute to the present administration of the board for the efforts they made to re establish the zone and for their continued support. Also sharing similar sentiments was Ignatius Trim, President of the Tobago Cricket Association. At the end of the year ceremony, Trim specially thanked Persaud and the present administration for what they have been doing to promote the game in the 'Sister Isle.' Trim was quoted as saying " no longer players from Tobago can feel that they are being discriminated against and for this I must thank this present administration. They are always willing to lend support whenever we call upon them," Trim said. President of the National Primary Schools Cricket League Anthony Ramjit has on several occasions publicly praised the CEO and the present administration from embracing primary schools cricket and for placing more emphasis in the game at this level. Longstanding administrator of the T&TCB and interim secretary of the Central Zone, Rambhai Patel, stated that the present administration is doing a remarkable job and said it was a joy to work with the present CEO. "It is beyond any doubt that the Murray administration is doing a remarkable job. I can speak on behalf of the entire administrative staff by saying that it is a joy to work with Persaud. He knows how to interact with the biggest man in the country to the smallest man something that a lot of administrators lack," Patel said. |
