McBean, Progressive in Central opener
Teams will be battling for close to $45,000, when the
three-day league competition of the Central Zonal Council of the T&T
Cricket Board bowls off on February 7, with matches across Central
Trinidad.
In the feature attraction
in the opening round of the Senior Division, title-holding D&D McBean
Sports Club
will be on the road to Chickland
Progressive
Sports Club, while
Alico Roadstar
Esperanza Sports Club will host Super Sonic Cricket Club
at Esperanza in another interesting encounter.
CEO and General Secretary of the T&TCB, Forbes Persaud, along with the
board’s Administrative Manager, Rambhai Patel and two other members of
the interim committee—lawyers Samuel Saunders and Lennox Sankersingh
will be visiting most of the matches during the opening round.

Sammy passes TT&A
Course in
England

Indies Level Two (2)
Coach,
and Coach of the Trinidad & Tobago National Under 17
Cricket Team,
recently embarked on a Tutor Training and Assessors Course in England.
Sammy who has been a Prison Officer for the last nineteen (19) years is
the coach of the Prisons Team who campaign in the
Division One
(1) of the East Zone.
Sammy also serves as
chairman of the East Zonal Council, Secretary of the Youth and Coaching
Development Committee of the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board and also
the President of the Coaching Association of Trinidad & Tobago.
The course was conducted
in England, from October 22 to November 7, 2008. Sammy was among five
(5) other coaches from the West Indies on the course.
The course outline dealt
with the How ‘2’ and what ‘2’ Coaching skills. How ‘2’ using the skills
of Explaining, Instructing, to Demonstrate, to Observe, to Analyse and
what is now being introduced the review process, where people are
allowed to self-reflect through the use of questions thereby assisting
the coach to form corrective measures, if any is to be made.
“The whole theme of the course really was designed to assist coaches in
understanding, How do people learn identifying the different learning
preferences and behavioral patterns; and formulating plans to cater for
these different types of learners,” Sammy said.
Since his return Sammy
has already tutored at both Level One (1) and Level Two (2) Coaching
Course back in November alongside Wendell Coppin, Territorial
Development Officer from Barbados.
Harvard clinic bowls
off on Sunday
Cricket journalist Fazeer
Mohammed will be the feature speaker at the opening of this years
Harvard Coaching Clinic which will taking place at the Harvard’s Club
House Tragarete Road in Port of Spain on Sunday at 10 am.
The clinic which has been
in existence since 1965 boost of past pupils such as retired West Indies
batting maestro
Brian Lara
and current West Indies all-rounder
Dwayne Bravo,
as well as Anil Baliram and Keno Mason.
Digicel which has been
the main sponsor for the clinic over the past three year will continue
into its fourth year of sponsorship with what is consider at one of the
countries leading coaching clinics.
The sessions for the
clinic will take place every Sunday morning from 9 am to noon for the
next six months. |
