| TTCB – News TTCB gives $460,000
to Clubs Thirty-one cricket clubs collected $460,000 in cash and other sporting equipment from the T&T Cricket Board on Tuesday. Forbes Persaud, CEO of the TTCB said in the near future the TTCB would also be distributing to every zone $500,000 in cash to see them through this year's competitions. Persaud said the monies for yesterday's presentation came from the US$80,000 that was given to the TTCB as the participation fee that was paid to the national team to participate in the Stanford Twenty/20 competition and nothing was used by the TTCB. Persaud said the TTCB saw it fit to pump the monies into the clubs to ensure that clubs and players benefited from the venture:”It did not go into the coffers of the TTCB," said Persaud. Fifteen clubs that made it to the Super League were given $20,000 each while the others got $10,000 each. Deryck Murray, head of the TTCB, used the opportunity highlight the vision and mission of the TTCB. Murray emphasized that the purpose of the TTCB is cricket. "What we are doing today in terms of providing development grants, boxes of balls to the clubs is part of that recognition." He said the roles played by clubs would ensure a widespread participation in cricket that would eventually lift the standard of the sport.” |
