UNION PREMIER DIVISION CRICKET LEAGUE Bravo, Morton to turn out for Queen’s Park T&T and West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo who returned from injury with a stroke-filled unbeaten century on Thursday for Queen’s Park against Woodland Sports in a Twenty20 fixture at the Oval, will again appear for the ‘Parkites’ today in Round Two of the Eastern Credit Union Premier Cricket League. Bravo will turn out for Queen’s Park against leaders at Gilbert Park in California in the two-day league fixture. Bravo last played competitive cricket in July in 2008 in the fifth and final ODI against Australia in the Caribbean, before under-going surgery to his left ankle in October last year. The right-handed batsman said yesterday that he has set no time frame to get back in the T&T and West Indies teams. “ I was happy for the opportunity to get in the middle to test the injury. I am giving my self some time to get back my confidence, before I go on to the next step. I will get another feel of the healing process of the injured ankle, when I play for Queen’s Park tomorrow (today) against Wanderers at Gilbert Park,” Bravo said. The 25-year-old Bravo, who has played 31 Tests and 88 ODIs, is anxious to return to international cricket. He advertised some readiness for competitive cricket with a sterling batting performance on Thursday against the opponents from South Trinidad. Also included in the ‘Parkites’ team is the Leeward Islands and West Indies batsman, Runako Morton, who was dropped from the Leewards’ team for disciplinary reasons. Wanderers who registered the only win in Round One of the series will depend on T&T and West Indies Twenty20 opening batsman, William Perkins, to turn back the challenge of the visitors. Defending champions Ceramic Merry Boys Sports will enjoy home advantage against their more competitive opponents from Central Trinidad - Alescon Comets. In the opening round of the competition, Merry Boys led by out-of-favour T&T batsman, Aneil Kanhai got the better of Munroe Road at the Cunupia Recreation Ground. Another interesting fixture is carded for Wilson Road Recreation Ground in Penal, where home team - FC Clarke Road United will battle the formidable Clico Preysal Sports. Both teams are packed with talent and the encounter can go either way. In another key match, former champions PowerGen Sports will square-off with Munroe Road Sports at Syne Village in Penal. T&T and West Indies left-arm spinner Dave Mohammed who has opted out of the national team for ‘personal reasons’ for the last three regional matches, will take his place in the PowerGen’s line-up. Mohammed played two limited overs matches during the week for PowerGen, but has been sidelined for this weekend’s regional match against Barbados at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre. The selectors have gone instead for T&T youth left-arm spinner Magnum Nanan. Matches start at 10 am. ECU Premier Division - Round Two Fixtures Today.
