ROUND-UP CENTRAL ZONE Conquerors enjoy home advantage Defending champion, Caroni Conquerors will enjoy home advantage in the quarterfinals of the Central Zone Sunday League Limited Overs Competition. Title-holding Conquerors will come up against Bank Village Sports Club. In another interesting encounter, Roadstars Esperanza Sports, the winner of Group C, will face McBean Sports. In the remaining two matches, Brickfield Sports will battle John Peter Road Sports Club, while Exchange Sports will take on Balmain United in the ‘Couva Derby’. The matches will take place on Saturday, from 11.30 am, and will be of 40-overs per-side. Quarterfinal matches - Saturday. Caroni Conquerors v Bank Village Sports at Caroni; BG TT U-15 SERIES The semifinals of the T&T Cricket Board BG TT-sponsored -Under-15 Series will take place today at venues in East and Central Trinidad. East, the title holders, will host the improving South-West Zone at Honeymoon Park in Tunapuna, while former winner Central will entertain North at the Invaders Recreation Ground in Felicity. The final is carded for March 19 at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva. Matches are of 50 overs per-side and will start at 9.30 am. DIGICEL CRICKET SERIES Ground tickets still available A limited number of ground tickets for the Digicel Twenty20 game between the West Indies and England scheduled for Sunday at 2 pm at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain, are still available to patrons. Tickets will be on sale today at the Ticket Office at Elizabeth Street, from 9 am. These tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis and will cost $200 per ticket. Maximum tickets per-person will be four. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- South East screening on today The South - East Zone of the TT Cricket Board will be holding screening sessions today for the upcoming BGTT Under-17 and Under-19 InterZone Youth Tournaments, scheduled to bowl off on March 31. South East is joint-holder of the BGTT Under-19 title along with Central Zone, while Central won the Under-17 title from South East last year. The screenings will take place at Yolande Pompey Ground, from 3.30 p.m. This will be the final session to select the players for the series. Coaches will be Patrick Harriot and Rydell Ramsaran. Parents are asked to make a big effort to get their youngsters to attend the screening sessions. POWERGEN SECONDARY SCHOOLS CRICKET LEAGUE El ‘Do’ whips Green Machine Allrounder Yannic Cariah underlined his superiority as one of the leading young cricketers in T&T with a fine performance to help El Dorado Secondary defeat St Augustine Senior by an innings and 36 runs on Tuesday. Action was in Round Six of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League. Taking first strike, ‘El Do’ tallied a competitive 186 for six with Travis Karim scoring 74 runs and Cariah an even half century. Bismal Gobinda was the best bowler for St Augustine, with three for 58. Karim returned with figures of four for 30 while Cariah grabbed three for 15, as St Augustine was dismissed for a paltry 73. ‘‘El Do’’ enforced the follow-on, with St Augustine trailing by a mammoth 113 runs in the first innings. Nicholas Rampersad was the pick of the bowlers for ‘‘El Do’’ taking three wickets for a miserly seven runs while Kern Mattison had three for 11. Karim continued to be impressive with the ball taking three for 24, and seven in the match, as St Augustine was bowled out for 77 to lose by an innings and 36 runs. Meanwhile, in the South/Central Zone, Barrackpore Senior Comprehensive took first innings points against Moruga Composite in a close encounter.
