| TTCB – News Mohammed,
Cruikshank back in T&T squad Former T&T and West Indies youth player Jason Mohammed and hard-hitting Queen’s Pak Cricket Club batsman, Daron Cruikshank have been recalled to the T&T squad for the tenth round of the West Indies Cricket Board championship against the Windward Islands. The four-day contest starts on Friday at the Arnos Vale Recreation Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines. Mohammed has replaced the hard-hitting Kieron Pollard who is in Guyana with the West Indies team for the first One-dayer against England at the National Stadium in New Providence. Cruikshank who is yet to represent T&T in a First-Class fixture comes into the team at the expense of William Perkins. Left-arm spinner Dave Mohammed has failed to find favour with the selectors once more. Led by Daren Ganga, T&T are virtually out of contention and are presently fifth in the seven-team standings on 45 points. But Chief Selector, Narine Bidhesi remains optimistic of another good showing from the team. “ We are expecting to end the season on a high note and hope that the new players show their full potential. We have been severely hampered by the inclement weather in some of our matches and the injuries to some key players, but we continued to give a good account of ourselves. We are hoping to continue in that same vein for the remainder of the tournament,” Bidhesi said. The team will leave for Kingstown at 8.40 am on Tuesday. T&T team: Daren Ganga (captain), Adrian Barath, Navin Stewart, Darren Bravo, Imran Khan, Sherwin Ganga, Gibran Mohammed, Magnum Nanan, Jason Mohammed, Atiba Allert, Amit Jaggernauth, Ravi Rampaul, Daron Cruikshank. Manager: Colin Borde. Coach: Kelvin Williams. Physio/Trainer: Ronald Rogers. |
