LOCAL CRICKET ROUND-UP
March 18th 2009

Conquerors through to semis

Defending champions Caroni Conquerors cruised into the semifinals of the T&T Cricket Board Central Zone Sunday League 40-over competition, after their quarterfinal match-up against Bank Village Sports was abandoned through rain on Saturday.

In a rain-ruined encounter at Caroni, Conquerors won the toss and chalked up a competitive 222 for seven from the allotted 40 overs. Rohan David topscored with 61, while veteran Fyzool Ghanny made 45 and Imtiaz Mohammed 45.

Rampersad struck a bold 58, which helped Esperanza to tally a modest 204. He received good support Kervin Singh who contributed 54. In response, McBean Sports were dismissed for 162, with Rampersad picking up two for 36.
