QPCC defeats England’s North Hampton

Queens Park Cricket Club Under -14 cricketers ended North Hampton School good run, defeating them by 53 runs on Wednesday at the Queen’s Park Oval.

North Hampton previously defeated Moosai’s Sports and Clico Preysal Under -14 teams by heavy margins but had to end their tour of T&T on a loosing note. The defeat was masterminded by T&T’s Under -15 opening batsman Jeremy Solozano who batted through the 35 overs to end on 66 not out with help coming from Camilio Carimbocas 22 and Kelly Rosalis 20, to set the visitors a victory target of 153.

North Hampton lost wickets steadily in their turn at the crease and were eventually bowled out for 100. The Queens Park bowling attack was spear headed by Jonathan Hirst who ended with four for 16 and Luke Welch who picked up three for 18.

After the game Solozano was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his knock and taking three catches.

Hirst was given a special award for his good bowling performances against North Hampton in the match as well as his spell against the visitors when he represented Fatima College on Saturday.

Propelled by an effervescent performance from West Indies all-rounder Stacy-Ann King, T&T’s Brooklyn United whipped local side Bajan Shottas by nine wickets to win the West Indies Women’s Softball Twenty20 tournament on Monday in Bridgetown.

Sent to bat at the Parkinson Community Centre just outside the city, the Bajan Shottas were restricted to 85 for eight off their 20 overs and Brooklyn replied with 89 for one in just 9.4 overs.
