C&B UNITED CRICKET CLUB PROFILE
May 26th 2009

C&B United Sports Club of Canaan/Bon Accord Tobago was established in 1958 and have produced the likes of Clint Yorke, Ken Williams and just recently Lincoln Roberts all of whom represented Trinidad and Tobago with the latter being the first and still the only West Indian player from Tobago.

C&B United after being dominant in the 1960's,1970's and 1980's fell away in the 1990's to early 2000, before a strong revival in the last 6 years, which saw them winning back to back titles in 2006/07, ending a stranglehold on Tobago Cricket by Cavaliers. However, Cavaliers rebounded and claimed the title last year, while C&B were runners-up.

Meantime, with a much stronger and experienced team this season C&B United regained the title TWO-DAY title, along with the 40 over crown. United who have an average age group of 24, ended the season with 56 points from 7 games, winning three games outright, three on first innings and losing one on first innings.

Their Captain MARCUS DANIEL led from the front with the bat compiling 369 runs from 7 innings, complimented with 5 half centuries with 74 being his highest. DANIEL was also handy with the ball snaring 31 wickets for the season, with a best of 7 for 59 in the decisive game against Cavaliers.

Apart from DANIEL, off-spiner ANCIL NEDD clinched the League's leading wicket-taker trophy by snaring 40 wickets, with a best of 7-30.

Opening batsman and Wicket keeper KEVIN JOSEPH was the club's only centurian this season, scoring 114 in the first game of the season against Goergia. He ended the season with a marathon knock of 64 against Cavaliers which spanned a total of 5 hours.

JOEL BOYCE another opening bat and was once a contender for Tobago Sportman of the year following a magnificent season in 2007 should have scored two hundreds, but fell short twice on 92 and 97.

Apart from winning the 40-over title and 2-day League C&B United are on the verge to becoming the first team to win all three titles on offer in the Tobago Cricket Association League.

They started the Twenty/20 tournament with a 25 run win against Scarborough/Mason Hall last weekend. Seven players from the C&B team are presently on the Tobago senior team.

C&B's full squad includes: KEVIN JOSEPH, KERON JOSEPH, JOEL BOYCE, JIMEL BOYCE, MARCUS DANIEL (captain), ANCIL NEDD, ANTHONY CLARK, MICHAEL ALEXANDER, KERRY CORDNER, ELTON CRUIKSHANK, STEPHAN YOUNG, WINSTON DIARRE (vice-captain), KEITH ABRAHAM, KEN MOHAMMED, DECLON PHILLIPS, ARNEL JONES and JOHN BOYCE (manager).

Members of the coaching staff includes CLINT YORKE and MOSES THOMAS.

The club's ambition is to be distinguished from other clubs/teams on the island, by promtion and branding, which ultimately will set a higher standard of cricket in Tobago.
