LOCAL CRICKET ROUND-UP
June 8th 2009

Central clubs pleased with interim committee

High praises were heaped on the interim committee of the T&T Cricket Board’s (T&TCB) Central Zonal and District Council for the efficient manner in which the 2009 season was organised.

The interim committee headed by administrative manager of the T&TCB, Rambhai Patel, and include attorneys Lennox Sankersingh and Samuel Saunders took up the mandate of the clubs to run the zone, after the last executive failed to live-up to expectations.

Former treasurer of the zone, Hadeed Ali, said that he is extremely elated at the high level of professionalism shown by the committee and hope that the executive of the T&TCB sees it fit to have these gentlemen serve another term.

“I am happy with the effort of Rambhai (Patel) and his two colleagues. This was one of the better seasons for the cricketers in recent times. The fixtures and dates given to the clubs were completed as scheduled.”

Since given the mandate by the board to run the affairs of the Zone, the interim committee, took up the challenge and worked hard with all stakeholders for a successful 2009 season,” Ali said.

Manju Fletcher of Perseverance Sports also hailed the efforts of Patel and his team and said that the various competitions were well run and organised. Fletcher said it was a successful year for clubs and in particular the zone.

Ali Roadstars Esperanza Sports Club won the Sunday League Limited Overs final, after they defeated Balmain United in the final at the Exchange Grounds in Couva, while they whipped McBean United in the Ramsingh’s Sports World 20/20 final at the Edinburgh Recreation Ground in Chase Village.
