Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Tournament

Former West Indies Under-15 captain, Steven Katwaroo has been named captain of the T&T Under-17 team, which will participate in the Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools tournament.

Katwaroo is one of the entire 14 member-squad who are newcomers in the T&T team for the three-week tournament, which will take place in Barbados from July 4-26. T&T have secured back to back titles in the tournament, having been victorious in 2007 and 2008.

In last year’s final, T&T defeated Lodge School of Barbados at the Kensingston Oval in Bridgetown.

Several promising players are included in the team, among them Savion Lara, nephew of former T&T and West Indies captain, Brian Lara, tall-scoring batsman, Anthony Jawahir and opener Kieron Joseph.

Former T&T fast bowler Alec Burns is the new manager of the team, while Tarandath Sammy retains the position as coach.
