South-West supports ‘Friends of Cricket’ The South-West Zonal District Council of the T&T Cricket Board is again throwing its support to the current administration, headed by former T&T and West Indies wicketkeeper Deryck Murray. This after the ‘Friends of Cricket’ regained control of South-West when their six club representatives emerged victorious on Tuesday night at the Rousillac Community Centre. Leading the victory charge for the ‘Friends of Cricket’ candidates was T&T Under-15 coach, Baldath Bodoe who picked up 13 votes. Also elected as a club representative was well-known sports administrator in South Trinidad, Wilson James. Making up the six ‘reps’ were Neil Khan (22), Ramesh Dharamdeo (12), Ash Sinanan (13) and Renard Sankersingh (12). Thirteen of the zone’s 14 clubs attended the meeting, which was supervised by the board’s second-vice-president, Leo Doodnath. Bodoe told the Guardian yesterday, that South-West Zone is in full support of the current administration and will continue to do so at the T&TCB’s annual general meeting carded for October 31 at the National Cricket Centre in Couva. “We will continue to support this present administration because of the tremendous job they are doing in promoting the sports in the rural areas of T&T. Cricket was a no go situation in this part of the country, until the zone was re-established two years ago,” Bodoe said.
