| TTCB – News Umpires get
$361,000 from T&TCB The T&T Cricket Board (T&TCB) has issued a cheque of $361,000 to be paid to officials of the T&T Cricket Umpires and Scorers Council (T&TCU&SC), for services rendered during the 2009 cricket season. This was revealed by head of the T&TCU&SC Lalman Kowlessar, who said that umpires can collect their monies at the offices of T&TCB, Balmain, Couva. The hard-working Kowlessar said that the organisation has also received a cheque of $47,000 from the local board, to conduct courses for new umpires in the seven Zonal and Districts Council of the T&TCB. Kowlessar praise the T&TCB for its prompt payment and ensured the board of the umpires continued support in the future. “I want to congratulate the board for its prompt payment and starting the courses for the new umpires, something which augurs well for the future of umpires in the twin-island republic. I hope that out of these courses we are conducting, that a Bucknor (Steve) will emerge,” Kowlessar said. Meanwhile, the election of the six club representatives from the Premiership and Championship Division will take place tomorrow at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, starting at 5 pm. The election of the ‘reps’ will have a crucial impact on the board’s annual general meeting carded for October 31 at the National Cricket Centre. The ‘Movement of Change’ challenge to take control of the Premiership and Championship Division will be lead by former T&T and West Indies opening batsman Suruj Ragoonath. Other members of the slate include Patrick Rampersad, Samlal Sookoo, Mahabir Ragoonanan, Kazim Mohammed, Anil Kamal, Dr Allen Sammy and Balraj Ragoo. T&T’s senior team manager Colin Borde will spearhead the challenge of the ‘Friends of Cricket’ candidates. Listed among the nominees are Richard Ramkissoon, Stephen Ramkissoon, Lester Lall, Sharaz Mohammed and Lt. Nigel Seetahal. |
