Zonal support for Friends of Cricket
October 26, 2009

In a show of solidarity for the incumbent Deryck Murray-led administration of the T&T Cricket Board , delegates from five of the eight cricket zones in the country, all of whom have voting rights at the board’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for Saturday, have jointly pledged full support for the “Friends Of Cricket” in the upcoming cricket board elections.

Three delegates from each zone are eligible to participate in the elections, and with the five zones pledging it fullest support, it means that Murray and his team are starting with 15 votes.

The AGM. comprises 49 delegates with voting rights. A minimum of 25 votes will be required to win the elections.

The zones favouring the incumbents are South, South West, East, Central and Tobago. The official delegates from the four Trinidad zones met on Friday last at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, and, through a teleconference with Tobago, publicly pledged unwavering support for Murray and his team.

Second Vice President of the T&TCB Leo Doodnath, who is also chairman of the South Zone, and Executive Member Lalman Kowlessar, who is chairman of the Central Zone, both have voting rights at the elections. Both are supportive of the “Friends Of Cricket.” The two were also present at the meeting.

Zonal Delegates:

South: Kent Ghisayawan, Carl Birjah, Rudolph Ali

East: Tarandath Sammy, Sukesh Maniam, Kameel Hamza

South West: Baldath Bodoe, Wilson James, Ramesh Dharamdeo

Central: Mozac Rahamat, Farouk Hosein, Keith Joseph

Tobago: Ignatius Trim, Moses Thomas, Parkinson Alfred.
