Preysal bowl off T20 campaign today
March 22, 2010

CLICO Preysal will open their campaign today in the Carib Twenty20 tournament against Universal Haulers Esmeralda Sports in Group “D” at Inshan Ali Park, Preysal.

The former Twenty20 champions will be without captain, Yannick Ottley as well as allrounders Yannic Cariah and Kristopher Ramsaran who are representing their respective zones in the current BG TT Inter Zone Under-19 tournament.

Preysal despite missing the trio will still be favourites to win with experienced Shazan Babwah and Nicholas Ramjass in the lineup. Pacer, Kwesi Roy and Shannon Gabriel concludes a strong team for Preysal who are among the contenders for the title.

The other match in Group “D” will feature Curepe Sports against Canaan and Bon Accord.

Alescon Comets will have a tricky opening match against the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) in Group “C” at Pierre Road, Chaguanas. Both teams played each other over the weekend in the Eastern Credit Union Premiership with Comets finishing claiming first innings honours. Comets have a talented team with allrounders Rayad Emrit, Javon Searles and Imran Khan expected to play a major role.

Emrit was part of the successful Trinidad and Tobago team that won the Stanford Twenty20 tournament as well as Stanford Superstars team which won the Stanford Twenty20 for 20 match against England.

UTT will be depending on former West Indies pacer, Mervyn Dillon and national batsman Imran Jan. The other match in Group “D” match is between Explorers Sports and Moosai Sports at Brooklyn, Sangre Grande.
