TTCB – News BG T&T U-15 finalists told always strive for success
FINALISTS in the 2011 BG T&T Under-15 cricket competition were on Thursday reminded that their pursuit of success does not end on the cricket field but extends to every aspect of their young lives and that they should always strive to give their best at all times. These words of advice were given by Wendell Constantine, Communications and Brand Manager of BG T&T in a short ceremony before the start of the two-day final between defending champions Central and East at the National Cricket Centre at Balmain in Couva. "You must at all times be reminded of your responsibilities and aim to become exemplary representatives of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Your accomplishments must be a guide to what you ultimately hope to achieve in cricket and in life," said Constantine to the players, team officials and members of the T&T Cricket Board including Azim Bassarath (President), Arjune Samlal (General Secretary), Lalman Kowlessar (Executive Member) and Manohar Ramsaran (Administrative Manager). Constantine told the youngsters that before the first regional Under-15 tournament is staged in T&T in early July there BG T&T together with the T&TCB will organise sessions that will help them with their personal development which he said will have nothing to do with money but with how they interact with their peers, establish their goals in life and prepare to take their place in society as upstanding citizens. He said BG T&T was committed to youth development on and off the field and that the cricketers can rest assured that they will be given the best opportunities to grow and maximise their potential. President of the T&TCB Azim Bassarath congratulated the players for qualifying from their respective groups for the championship match and heaped praises on BG T&T for their continued support of the tournament which he said helps in setting the stage for the players' elevation to the national senior team and ultimately the regional Test squad. "I also want to thank the parents and family of the players who have given their unstinting support year after year and also the officials for their dedicated and committed service to maintaining the best standards at which the game is played," said Bassarath. Ramsaran, a former Government minister and Member of Parliament told the finalists that their presence in the final is something that they should cherish for the rest of their lives since participation in the BG T&T Under-15 Final at the National Cricket Centre is a momentous and historic occasion which they can all be proud about. |
