TTCB – News T&T Cricket Board rescues young students
THE Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (T&TCB) has come to the rescue of a struggling family with a significant financial contribution. The timely assistance will ensure that Brandon and Bridgit Sonny who both attend the St Julien Presbyterian School will start the new term on Tuesday after the Easter holidays with new uniforms and adequate school supplies. The presentation was made on Saturday, April 23, 2011 (Gloria Saturday) by Azim Bassarath, president of the T&TCB to Gangayea Rampersad when he paid a visit to her humble home at Harryjohn Trace, St Julien Village, Princes Town. Rampersad, 79, was put in dire straits when her house fell down but because of the assistance of the T&TCB on the initiative of president Bassarath, she was able to breathe a sigh of relief as her grandchildren Brandon and Bridgit, who are in Standard Three and Standard Two respectively, will face the new school term fully equipped to tackle their studies. The donation of $5,000 which will be used to offset the cost of books, uniforms and other essentials for her grandchildren represents the holistic approach of the T&TCB towards the development of the young people in rural communities targeting especially the disadvantaged and underprivileged.
