North East, East clash in BG T&T U-19 Final
April 27, 2011

CRICKETERS representing North East Zone will on Thursday be involved in their second national final in as many days when they come up against East in the final of the BG T&T Under-19 tournament at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva.

The final will be contested over two days and follows the BG T&T Under-17 40-over clash which involved North East and Central on Wednesday, also played at Balmain.

“This is the crème de la crème of local youth cricket showing off their skills for bragging rights and an opportunity to impress the national selectors who are always on the lookout for new exciting talent,” said Manohar Ramsaran, Administrative Manager of the T&T Cricket Board.

The former Government Minister and Member of Parliament said he has been impressed with the talent of North East cricketers who have played impressively all season and will be looking to upstage their close rivals who are eager to dismiss their opponents as upstarts.

Ramsaran was high in praise of BG T&T who through their valuable sponsorship of the Under-19 competition has reinforced their confidence in the young cricketers who represent the future of the game in Trinidad and Tobago.

“BG T&T have shown that they are committed to the development and growth of the sport throughout Trinidad and Tobago and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their intervention to ensure that the youngsters are provided with a platform to demonstrate their talent,” said Ramsaran.

Ramsaran said focus is on the Under-19s since they are just one step away from selection on the national team and he is expecting outstanding performances to make the T&T selectors sit up and take notice.

Play in the final gets underway at 10 am on both days.
