TTCB – News Ruling on QP, Preysal clash next week A DECISION is likely to be handed down early next week in the dispute between Queen’s Park Cricket Club and Preysal over the outcome of their Eastern Credit Union Premier League match played earlier this season. Queen’s Park, who are runaway leaders for championship honours claimed victory after the eighth Preysal wicket fell off the final ball of the match stating that Shannon Gabriel was absent for an extended period in the match and was unavailable. This however was challenged by Preysal, who stand to gain two crucial points if the match is ruled a draw and in their favour. Anil Kamal, secretary of the National League said the matter has been referred to the Trinidad and Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board’s (T&TCB) Disclipinary Committee which will consider match reports from the umpires and the match referee. The Disclipinary Committee, headed by attorney-at-law Lennox Sankersingh was scheduled to meet on Friday to give an interpretation and ruling which is expected to be made public early next week. Although Queen’s Park are almost certain to clinch the ECU Premier League title, a ruling in favour of Preysal could open an opportunity for challengers Merry Boys to steal a march on the 2011 50-Overs Sunday League title-holders. However the Queen’s Park grip on the crown can only be loosened if their next match is completely rained out and Merry Boys emerge outright winners in the next round of Premier League action. |
