North, Central zone cricket prizes Saturday
December 2, 2011

OUTSTANDING cricketers in the North and Central Zones of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (T&TCB) will be in the spotlight on Saturday, December 03, 2011 at their respective end-of-the year prize-giving functions.

North Zone will stage their 31st presentation of prizes from 6 pm in the VIP Room of the Hasely Crawford Stadium at Mucurapo. Chairman of the North Zone, Patrick Rampersad said on Friday that the feature address will be delivered by Mr Ashwin Creed, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports.

Rampersad said among the big winners on Saturday will be Police, who emerged 2011 league champions. Also to be announced will be the zone’s “Five Cricketers of the Year” and “Youth Cricketer of the Year”  in the following age groups: Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19.

Central Zone have also planned their 2011 awards function on Saturday, from 5.30 p.m. at Indar’s Auditorium, Dyette Estate, Southern Main Road, Cunupia. Rajin Poorai, chairman of the zone said newly appointed Manager of Sports Tourism at the Tourism Development Corporation Manohar Ramsaran will deliver the feature address.

Among the outstanding performers for the season were: Division One--- 1 Calcutta; 2 Endeavour; 3 Savannah Road; Division Two--- 1 Orange Field; 2 Brickfield; 3 Supersonic; Division Three--- Bank Village; 2 Presentation Old Boys; 3  Carapichaima; 40-Overs--- 1 Sheffield; 2 Bank Village; T20--- 1 Supersonics; 2 John Peter Road.

Poorai was recently elected to succeed long-serving administrator/coach/manager Lalman Kowlessar who declined to stand for re-election as chairman. He said “Cricketers of the Year” in each division of the Central Zone competitions will also be revealed on Saturday night.
