FINALS Joseph leads Central to youth title CENTRAL led by a solid 81 from Kieron Joseph captured the BG TT Under-17 title when they defeated South-East by 95 runs in the final on Friday at the National Cricket Centre at Balmain, Couva. Joseph slammed ten fours in his well-composed knock to help Central tally a competitive 190 in 41.2 overs. He received good support from Videsh Sookhai who made 21, while Dylan Seerattan (2-20), Rienzo Trotman (2-5) and Vikash Rampersad (2-29) were the top bowlers for the dethroned champions. In response, South-East were routed for a meagre 95, with T&T’s Under-15 spinner Kissoondath Sagram (4-28) the leading bowler for Central. Sagram was given admirable support by Kern Matheson who captured three for 25. A short opening ceremony preceeded the final with BG TT’s Candace Clarke-Salloum and T&T Cricket Board’s CEO and General Secretary Forbes Persaud meeting the youngsters. Persaud showered praises on BG TT for their sponsorship and efforts in promoting sports among the nation’s youngsters. A large crowd including parents were on hand to witness the final, and according to Administrative Manager of the local board, Rambhai Patel, it was a pleasing performance from the teams.
