BG T&T UNDER-19 COMPETITION
FINAL PRELIMINARY ROUND
March 25th 2008

Central in strong position against South-West

CENTRAL led by half-centuries from Sebastien Bhal and the in-form Yannick Ottley were in a good position to force an outright win against South-West in the final preliminary round of the BG T&T Under-19 competition. Playing at James Ground in Point Fortin, Central closed in the healthy position of 307 for seven. This was in reply to the hosts paltry first inning total of 88, mainly due to intelligent bowling from Central’s Javid Ramdhanie with five for 14 and Yannick Ottley three for 24.

Batting for Central, Bhal scored 66, Ottley 58 and there were solid contributions from Qadir Shah (41), Omesh Ramoutar (27 not out) and Derone Davis (26). At the Diamond Recreation Ground, South batted first and were dismissed for 180, with Kareem Jumadeen, son of former West Indies left-arm spinner Raphick Jumadeen, hitting an unbeaten 84 with 10 fours. In response, South-East closed on 78 for two. At Canaan in Tobago, East batted all day to tally 340 for six against Tobago. Stephan Kallie 95 and Shivon Sankar were the principal scorers.
