BG T&T UNDER-19 COMPETITION
SEMIFINALS - April 4th 2008

Central, South-East in U-19 final

Central, with former T&T youth player Narsingh Rambaran as coach, sailed in the final of the BG TT U-19 competition, after they defeated Tobago by nine wickets at the Presentation College, grounds in Chaguanas, on Friday.

Batting first, Tobago were dismissed for a meagre 111 with only Kelon Hamilton (26) offering resistance with a patient innings.

Impressive left-arm spinner Javid Ramdhanie (2-10) and right-arm spinner Kjorn Ottley (2-12) were the top bowlers for the well oiled Central outfit.

In reply, Central led by a polished 55 from the inform Yannick Ottley were dismissed for 185. Lending good support to Ottley were Qadir Shah (33), Kjorn Ottley (28) and West Indies U-15 left-arm spinner Derone Davis (20).

Addrian Daniel (4-22) and Theron Reid (3-28) were the top bowlers for Tobago.

In arrears by 74 runs, Tobago batting a second time were dismissed for 121. Set a victory target of 47 runs from six overs, Central achieved the win with three balls remaining.

At Honeymoon Park in Tacarigua, South-East led by a solid 82 from the tall-scoring Evin Lewis won on first innings against East.

Taking first strike in gloomy conditions, South-East tallied a competitive 166. Giving good support to Lewis was Khemraj Mewalal with 30. In response, East were routed for 112, with Akiel Cooper (4-29) and Sheldon Durgan (4-36) the bowling heroes.

Central will meet South-East in the final on Tuesday and Wednesday at the National Cricket Centre in Couva. Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the BG TT U-17 competitions will take place on Tuesday at venues in North and South Trinidad.

At the Yolande Pompey Park in Princes Town, South-East will take on North-East, while at the Barataria Oval, North will battle Central.

The final is scheduled for next Friday at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva.

Central won by 9 wkts.

AT HONEYMOON PARK: South-East 166 (Evin Lewis 82, Khemraj Mewalal 30) v East 112 all out (Akiel Cooper 4-29, Sheldon Durgan 4-36). South-East won on first innings.
