Babwah, Cooper hit centuries

FORMER T&T middle-order batsman Shazam Babwah lashed a robust 144, to help Clico Preysal Sports earned a commendable draw against Alescon Comets, in the Eastern Credit Union National Cricket League Division One competition, yesterday.  

On the final day of an intriguing Round Two contest at the Pierre Road Recreation Ground, Preysal in arrears by 47 runs on first innings declared at 302 for eight wickets, thanks mainly to Babwah’s contribution. He batted for 248 minutes, faced 164 balls and found the boundary ropes 16 times and cleared the fence on five occasions. 

Set a victory target of 256 in 39 overs, Comets reached 175 for five before they abandoned the chase. At the Oval, young Kervon Cooper notched an unbeaten 111 to guide Queen’s Park to first innings points against PowerGen Sports. 

In the remaining matches, Ceramic Merry Boys and W Connection Wanderers took first innings points against Clarke Road and Munroe Road respectively.
