Eastern Credit Union National League
ROUND 4

Jugmohan puts PowerGen in the lead

NAZ YACOOB

POWERGEN Sports surged into the lead in the Eastern Credit Union National Cricket League Division One competition, when they registered a convincing innings and 35-run-win in Round Four action at Syne Village in Penal at the weekend.

Leading the victory charge for PowerGen was impressive spinner Farrell Jugmohan who had a match-haul of nine for 56.

It was the only outright win in the division, and the victory pushed the former champions to the top of the standings with 68 points, five more than early leaders Ceramic Merry Boys Sports on 63.

Merry Boys had to settle for first innings points against Queens Park at the Oval.

However, the Merry Boys technical staff surely would have been pleased with the performance of young left-arm pacer Morad Khan who had a match-analysis of eight for 89, including a first innings haul of seven for 33.

Defending champions FCB Clarke Road United led by an unbeaten even hundred from Guyanese Homchand Pooran, took first innings points against Clico Preysal Sports at Inshan Ali Park.

Former Guyana wicketkeeper/batsman Azeemul Haniff stroked an unbeaten 84 in Preysals second innings.

Veteran off-spinner Mukesh Persad grabbed six for 30 for Clarke Road.

In the remaining match, Alescon Comets took first innings points against W Connection Wanderers at Gilbert Park
