Khan guides into quarterfinals

MANY-times champions, Presentation College, Chaguanas moved into quarter-finals of the PowerGen InterCol competition, when they recorded a huge 206-run-win against ‘Pres’ San Fernando yesterday at Chaguanas. Leading the victory charge for the Central team was the impressive Amir Khan who scored an even hundred and captured two wickets for two run.

Taking first strike, ‘Pres’ Chaguanas tallied a challenging 243 for eight from the allotted 30 overs. The left-handed Khan topscored with 100, which included seven fours and three sixes. He received good support from T&T Under-19 allrounder Kjorn Ottley who made 54 and skipper Omesh Ramoutar with 36. In reply, ‘Pres’ San Fernando were bundled out for a measly 37 off 22 overs.

T&T Under-19 trialist Terrence Ramsaroop made 15, while Ottley turned in a fine allround performance when he captured four for 10, Khan with two for two and Chris Ramnarine two for three were the other wicket takers.

‘Pres’ Chaguanas will take on St Augustine Senior Comprehensive in a quarterfinal match-up tomorrow at the McBean Recreation Ground.
