POWERGEN SECONDARY SCHOOLS CRICKET LEAGUE

P Town bowled out of InterCol

DEFENDING champions Princes Town Senior Comprehensive were bowled out of the PowerGen Secondary Schools League InterCol competition, when they were beaten by Hillview College by 48 runs yesterday.

In a quarterfinal match-up at Gilbert Park in California, Hillview batted first and tallied a challenging 196 for five in the allotted 30 overs, with useful contributions from Anthony Jawahir (49), Dwayne Cockburn (44) and Akeem Alvarez (40 not out).

In response, P Town were dismissed for 148 in 26.2 overs to go down by 48 runs. Leading scorers were Amando Patterson with 57 and Evin Lewis 37. Stefon Kallie was the top bowler for Hillview with four for 24.

Former champions Pres Chaguanas also eased into the semis with a comfortable 91-run-win against St Augustine Senior Comp at the Calcutta Recreation Ground.

Batting first, Pres amassed a competitive 193 for nine in 30 overs, with Keiron Joseph leading the way with a polished 76 with eight fours and one six.

In reply, St Augustine were routed for 102.

Also moving on to the semis are Fatima College and El Dorado Secondary who defeated Moruga Composite and Barrackpore Secondary respectively.

AT EXHANGE: Moruga Composite 161-9 (30) (Mackiney Smith 48, Richie Joseph 28, Adrian Cooper 20) v Fatima 162-9 (27). Fatima won by 1 wkt.

AT CALCUTTA: Presentation College Chaguanas 193-9 (30) (Keron Joseph 76, Kjorn Ottley 31, Kyle Borneo 3-39) v St Augustine Senior Comp. 102 all out (Bhimul Gobinda 28, Nicholas Arthur 27, Chris Ramnarine 3-10, Darryl Mannick 2-2, Amir Khan 2-33). Pres won by 91 runs.

AT BALMAIN: El Dorado Secondary 148 (25) (Aaron Alfred 68, Vikash Rampersad 4-16, Vashist Maraj 2-20) v Barrackpore Secondary 132 (27.2) (Andre Sankar 56, Kern Mathison 3-26, Kjorn Isaac 3-13). El Do won by 16 runs.
