March 1st and 2nd 2008

Clement, Baksh, Mangra hit centuries

THREE centuries were scored in the opening round of the Central Super League competition at the weekend. Leading the way was Deonath Baksh who notched an unbeaten 126 for Black and White Calcutta Sports in a drawn encounter.

Also among the runs were Devon Clement who scored 147 for Ihsan Milton Valley Boys Sports against HCL Caroni Savannah Road, and Adrian Mangra who registered 112 not out for Caldrac Sports Club against Old Mac Agro Exchange Sports.

Round two action will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Wintz hits another hundred

PAUL WINTZ, the tall-scoring Laing Woodland United batsman continued his fine form with the bat, when he scored an unbeaten 130 against Victoria United in the opening round of the Southern Super League at the weekend.

Wintz splendid innings enabled Woodland to secure first innings points against the Rajindra Dhanraj-led team in the contest which ended in a draw.

Klondykes bowls off on Sunday

The 2008 edition of the Klondykes Sports Club Annual Windball tournament will get underway on March 9 at the Aranguez Savannah.

Close to $30,000 in cash incentives and prizes will be at stake in this year’s tournament.
