POWERGEN SECONDARY SCHOOLS CRICKET LEAGUE
Final - March 10th, 2008

‘Pres’ in good position against ‘El Do’

T&T and West Indies youth opening batsman Adrian Barath hit a fluent 69 to help defending champions Presentation College, Chaguanas, to a competitive 241 for eight in the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League final.

Playing against arch-rivals El Dorado Secondary Composite at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, on Monday, Barath struck 12 fours and was well supported by Ethan Bhal who made an unbeaten 66 with six fours as the national champions posted a decent score against their rivals from the East.

After ‘Pres’ won the toss and opted for first strike, they were given the launching pad for a competitive score, as Barath and Keiron Joseph added 63 runs for the first wicket partnership.

But steady and containing bowling by the “El Do” attack saw a keen tussle between bat and ball before an appreciative crowd at the NCC.

Shahid Mohammed was the leading bowler for “El Do” with three for 42, while national youth player Yannic Cariah bagged 2-41.

The match will continue today until first innings is decided.
