CARIB TWENTY20 SERIES
February 26th, 2009

Bravo returns with an unbeaten century
..... Lewis hits another hundred

T&T and West Indies batting allrounder Dwayne Bravo made a welcome return to competitive cricket, when he slammed an unbeaten 126 to guide Queen’s Park to a convincing 95- run-win against Woodland Sports in the Round of 16 Knock-Stage of the Carib Twenty20 Series yesterday, at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Bravo last played competitive cricket in July in 2008 in the fifth and final ODI against Australia in the Caribbean, before under-going surgery to his left ankle in October last year.

The talented player missed out on the Stanford Super Series, the West Indies Cricket Board Limited Overs Tournament in Guyana, the ODIs against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi all in 2008 and the tour of New Zealand in 2008/2009.

The right-handed batsman thrilled the small crowd at the Test venue with an excellent exhibition of stroke play which was enriched with six fours and 13 sixes in his knock of 85 balls, which helped the ‘Parkites’ to tally an imposing 189 for two in the allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Woodland could only muster 94 for seven in the allotted overs. Down South, T&T Under-19 opening batsman Evin Lewis continued his rich vein of form with a superb unbeaten century for PowerGen Sports against Caldrac Sports at Syne Village in Penal.

The left-handed Lewis who is the 2008 Secondary Schools Cricket League ‘Cricket of the Year’ lashed an enterprising 111 off 70 balls which included nine fours and six sixes as PowerGen were restricted to 178 for three. In reply, Caldrac were bowled out for 115 in 19.1 overs, with dropped T&T allrounder Samuel Badree picking up four wickets for six runs.
