East new youth champions

East are the new Under-19 champions when they defeated South-East by 36 runs in the BGTT T&TCB final at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, yesterday.

The Easterners with several decent scores from most of its batsmen, tallied a competitive 178 and the dismissed South-East for 142, with national youth players Yannic Cariah (3-27) and Kern Mathison (3-34) the leading bowlers.

AT NATIONAL CRICKET CENTRE: East 178 all out (50 overs) (Terrence Hinds 32, Javed Boodram 21, Yannic Cariah 21, Aaron Alfred 20, Silus Cooper 2-24, Darron Beekha 2-31) v South-East 142 all out (39.5) (Kerwin Sirju 33, Khemraj Mewalal 25, Akiel Cooper 20, Yannic Cariah 3-27, Kern Mathison 3-34). East won by 36 runs.

EAST ZONE WINS ANOTHER BGTT TTCB INTER ZONE TITLE

The East Zone defeated the South East Zone by 36 runs to take the BGTT TTCB Inter Zone Under 19 Title. Having already taken the BGTT TTCB Under 15 when they defeated the North Zone, the East Zone will be looking for a hattrick of titles when they meet the winner of South vs. North schedule for Tuesday 13th April 2009. The final of the BGTT TTCB Under 17 will be played at the National Cricket Centre on Thursday 16th April 2009.
