Fatima takes U-14 title

Fatima College of Mucurapo captured the National Under-14 title of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League when it registered a comfortable five-wicket win against El Dorado Secondary, in the final at the Queen’s Park Oval, yesterday.

Leading the victory charge was Camilo Carimbocas, who turned in an allround performance which earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

Asked to take first knock, ‘El Do’ scored 141 runs all out in their allotted 35 overs. Jamalee Johnson top-scored with 59 which included six fours. Right-arm spinner Carimbocas was the top bowler with three wickets for 13 runs.

In response, Fatima cantered to victory in 30.4 overs, with Carimbocas leading the way with 28 runs, while other good contributions came from Joshua Ramdoo (25 not out) and Kelly Rosales (25).

Former T&T opening batsman Michael Carew Jr, Carew, Fatima’s coach praised the efforts of his team and said that he expects good things in the future.

“ This win is the result of proper systems put in place. This disciplined team work hard at their game. It was a real team effort to climax a successful season. This result can also lead to good things both a national and regional level. I want to say a special thanks to Miguel Paty who was mainly responsible for this U-14 team,” Carew said.
