T&TCB BLUE WATERS “NO LOSERS” INTER ZONE 20 OVERS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Esperanza, Santa Cruz in T20 final

The grand finale of the inaugural T&TCB Blue Waters InterZone 20 Over Club Championship will take place on Saturday between Ali’s Esperanza Sports and Santa Cruz United at a venue still to be decided.

In the semi finals played last Saturday, Esperanza defeated C&B Utd and Santa Cruz defeated Agents.

Each of these defeated teams will receive a cash prize of $4,000.

Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board’s inaugural Blue Waters Twenty20 and 50 Overs Inter Zone Club Championships, Leo Doodnath, is elated over the fact that for both these championships, each participating team will receive guaranteed cash payments.

Doodnath was speaking at the end of the quarterfinal game in the Twenty50 Chamiponships between South Zone winners T&TEC and Tobago’s winner C&B Utd, played, at the Woodland Recreation Ground in South Trinidad.

Doodnath explained. “Teams have qualified for the championships by virtue of winning the Twenty20 and League Competitions in their respective Zones.

There are seven Zones in Trinidad plus Tobago, which makes eight teams eligible to participate in each of the championships.

In the first round of the Twenty20, the quarter finals, played on June 21, C&B Utd (Tobago) defeated OJs (South West), Esperanza (Central) defeated RJB Swansea (North East), Santa Cruz (North) defeated Clarke Rochard (South) and Agents (East) defeated Trench Town (South East).

Each of these defeated teams will receive a cash prize of $2,000.

There will be a toss for home venue for the grand final between Esperanza and Santa Cruz starting at 1.00 pm.

The runner up will receive $8,000. and the winner $12,000.

Doodnath concluded by exclaiming, “No losers with Blue Waters!”

At Esperanza: Esperanza: 160 for 7 in 20 overs (Maxi De Jong 29, Garvin Singh 44, Indar Mahadeo 34, Marcus Daniel 3 for 13) v C&B Utd: 94 all out in 16.2 overs (Marcus Daniel 32, Maxi De Jong 3 for 20, Jimmy Rampersad 3 for 34). Esperanza won.

At Santa Cruz: Santa Cruz: 158 for 4 in 20 overs (Barry Nicholas 57, Gobin Mamiam 43) v Agents: 120 all out in 19.2 overs (Gobin Maniam 2 for 20, Keron Raymond 2 for 20). Santa Cruz won.
