T&T Under 17s win in Sir Gary Sobers
A half century from Anthony Jawahir helped the
defending champion T&T U-17s to a five wicket-win over Phoenix at Dover
in their round five match of the Sir Garfield Sobers Schools
International Tournament on Sunday.
Phoenix batting first was dismissed for 169 in 38
overs, with Neil Browne making 56. Akeel Hosein with 4-24 and Keron
Benny 3-12 were the main destroyers for the T&T.
In reply, T&T reached 173 for five in 25 overs,
with Jawahir making 54, while skipper Steven Katwaroo supported with 36.
Sean Thornton was the most successful of the Phoenix bowlers with 2-11.
Meanwhile there were also victories for
Presentation College and Queen’s Park Cricket Club. ‘Pres’ defeated
Solihull School by eight wickets, while Queen’s Park whipped BCL Juniors
by 13 runs.
