T&TCB BLUE WATERS NATIONAL ZONAL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (50 overs)
July 13, 2009

T&TEC win Blue Waters Title

T&TEC Sports Club walked away with the Blue Waters National Zonal Club Championship fifty overs title when they easily defeated Santa Cruz Sports Club by 96 runs at Balmain Recreation ground last Saturday. T&TEC owed their victory mainly through an excellent all round performance from veteran Mervyn Richardson who led the way for the south zonal champions. T&TEC sent in to bat piled up 216 for nine with Richardson slamming a half century (51) which included three huge sixes and six fours.

Lending solid support to Richardson was Keegan Jagessar who also got to the half century mark with a well played innings of fifty six. Dale Douglas was the top bowler for Santa Cruz with three for 30 while Mark Apericio picked up two for 23. In reply Santa Cruz were undermined by Richardson who bowled accurately to return the fine figures of four for 22 as the north zone champions could only get as far as 120 before they were dismissed.

Kwesi Blackburn assisted Richardson by claiming two for 23. Keron Raymond (30) top scored for Santa Cruz while Dexter Sween made twenty five. As a result of his excellent performance Richardson picked up the fourteen hundred dollars man of the match award. Richardson was also voted best bowler and best batsman. Gobin Maniram of Santa Cruz copped the best fieldsman award. T&TEC collected $15,000 for winning the final while Santa Cruz received $10,000. Losing semifinalists Explorers and Renown Sports each received $5,000.
