Champs ‘El Do’ make winning start
January 21, 2010

DEFENDING PowerGen Secondary School Cricket League champions, El Dorado East Secondary made a winning start to the Championship Division One tournament by beating Intercol champions Presentation College, Chaguanas by five wickets yesterday at El Dorado.

Presentation College made 181 for eight with Kieron Joseph top scoring with 43 runs. There were also important contributions by Aleem Khan (38) and Ameer Khan (31) for Presentation College. National Under-19 player Aaron Alfred smashed 76 runs which included three sixes and eight boundaries to set up a successful run chase.

Needing 13 runs from three overs for victory middle order batsmen Kern Matheson ensured that EL Dorado secured victory with and unbeaten knock of 24 as they closed on 183 for five.
