El Dorado hammer Toco for fifth win
February 23, 2010

EL DORADO East Secondary crushed Toco Secondary by a whopping 208 runs to register their fifth straight win in Division One of the Powergen Secondary Schools Championship yesterday.

The El Dorado lads, batting first in their Fifth Round clash, posted an imposing 288 runs for eight wickets in their mandatory 50 overs, before skittling out Toco for a meagre 80.

National Under-17 batsman Stephen Katwaroo notched an unbeaten century as Iere High School scored an impressive five-wicket win over Hillview College at Iere.

Choosing to bat after winning the toss, Hillview posted 213/9 in their allotted 50 overs with Shaquille Alex hitting 47, Isaiah Rajah 37 and Rajiv Singh 32. Vasishth Maharaj and Randy Narine took two wickets apiece, for 38 and 41 runs respectively.

But Katwaroo registered his second ton for the season, 114 not out, as Iere replied with 215/5 in 43 overs. Shane Arjoon chipped in with 26 while national youth players Aneil Harrypersad and Sachin Boodram made 20 and 18 respectively.

Action in Round Six is scheduled for March 2 while the final round of action, Round Seven, will take place on March 9.

At Barrackpore: NAPARIMA COLLEGE 139 (44) - Kazeem Mohammed 59, Kyron Ghisyawan 23; Vikash Rampersad 4/11, Akash Ramjitsingh 2/25 vs BARRACKPORE WEST SECONDARY 141/9 - Kristian Dean 42, Daron Veekeh 32; K Mohammed 4/44, Jovan Ali 3/49. Barrackpore won by one wicket.

Division Two –

At Sangre Grande: ST MARY’S COLLEGE 174 (45 overs) - Stefan Balgobin 44, J’Keem Lawrence 37; Asmeer Mohammed 4/27 vs SWAHA HINDU COLLEGE 76 - V Maharaj 22; S Balgobin 5/9, M Moseley 2/18. St Mary’s won by 98 runs.

At Claxton Bay: UNION CLAXTON BAY SECONDARY 127 (25.1 overs) - Prakash Jagmohan 40; Sherad Richards 4/33, Joshua Seales 3/22 vs ST AUGUSTINE SECONDARY 85 (22 overs) - Kerron Thomas 28; Lukas Chankerdial 5/18, Scott Ragbir 4/17. Claxton Bay won by 42 runs.

At Penal: MANZANILLA HIGH SCHOOL 57 (20 overs) - Calvin White 19; Dinesh Ramdharie 4/6, Ramesh Brijlal 4/19, Rakesh Bissessar 2/12 vs SHIVA BOYS HINDU COLLEGE 58/2 (10.5 overs) - Nicholas Boochon 31 not out. Shiva Boys won by eight wickets.

At San Fernando: PRINCES TOWN WEST SECONDARY 164 (44 overs) - Amando Patterson 56, R Small 35; Sherwin Young 4/37, Kyron Benny 2/16 vs SAN FERNANDO CENTRAL SECONDARY 65/5 - Marcel Jones 58 not out, Dillon Sookram 35; Brandon Narinesingh 2/22. San Fernando won by five wickets.
