Batsmen on run spree in Southern Sports cricket

BATSMEN were in their element in the fifth round of the General Earth Movers Limited-sponsored Southern Sports Sunday Cricket League last weekend.

Five batsmen scored centuries while two others just missed out, Desmond Lallo scoring 98, and Kazeem Mohammed, 93.

Adesh Ramdial of Destiny Sports smashed a record-breaking 181 off Mohess Road Sports, eclipsing the 156 by Eddie Kanhai of Golconda United.

The Destiny batsman smashed 18 sixes and 12 fours in this innings which carried his team to total to 301 for nine and an exciting one wicket victory surpassing Mohess Road’s 299 in their 30 overs in which Krishna Jaglal scored 113.

Timmy Subniak scored the only century in the Champions Division hitting 122 for Petrotrin Sports uin his team’s 230 for three wickets against Knockers United who could only reply with 138.

Other century makers were Vicky Choon who got 114 for Amateurs Sports to total 283/5 and a 58-run victory over Barrackpore Anjels and Shawn Mungroo who reached 140 for City Boys in their nine-wicket victory over Dreadnaught in Division One action.
