TTCB – Results Merry Boys aim for another win CERAMIC Merry Boys can continue their unbeaten run in the Eastern Credit Union Premiership League when they host Tile Depot Central Sports at St Mary’s Ground, Serpentine Road, St James. The league leaders have been in ominous form this season and will be favourites to continue their winning ways. Merry Boys’ captain Aneil Kanhai has been leading the team with the ball while the strong batting lineup which includes Mario Belcon, Lendl Simmons and Alcindo Holder will pose a tough proposition. “We will be coming hard and will be playing aggressive cricket. We beat Central Sports outright last year and are confident of doing the same this year,” said opening batsman Belcon yesterday. Merry Boys lead the standing with 105 points and Belcon emphasised the importance of a win despite the good form of the team. “We want to keep the momentum going and we are aware that PowerGen have some easy teams to play so we need to keep winning,” said Belcon yesterday. Merry Boys will be without allrounder Richard Kelly who is still recovering from a broken finger and should return for next week’s important clash against PowerGen. “The team has been training hard and there is great intensity in our sessions. Brining in players like Atiba Allert and Clifton Halls coming back to the team has increased the competition for places and this is being reflected in our results,” said Belcon. Second placed PowerGen are favourites to claim an outright victory over Rahamut’s Eevergreen at Pluck Road, San Francique, Penal and keep the pressure on Merry Boys. PowerGen are still without Ravi Rampaul who is on duty with the West Indies team but maintain a strong lineup. Opening batsman Nicholas Sookdeosingh has been in good touch with the bat along with allrounders Samuel Badree and Dave Mohammed. W Connection Wanderers will be aiming to salvage their league campaign when they host First Citizens Clarke Road at Gilbert Park in California. Currently Wanderers are at the bottom of the league standings with 20 points and need a win to get out of the relegation zone. Clarke Road will pose stiff opposition with Mahadeo Moonasar expected to continue his good form while former Wanderers captain Sanjiv Gooljar will play his first match against his former team. Alescon Comets will start as favourites against the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) at the Omera Campus Ground. Comets spinners, Kissondath Magram and Magnum Nanan will be integral for Comets along with allrounder Javon Searles and Dary Balgobin. UTT will rely on the experience of Imran Jan and Mervyn Dillon to spearhead their victory chances. Clico Preysal have been boosted by the form of skipper Yannick Ottley who scored a century for Presentation College, Chaguanas during the week when they take on Queen’s Park at the Inshan Ali Recreation Ground in Preysal. Ottley has a formidable bowling attack featuring Yannic Cariah and Shannon Gabriel against Queen’s Park who are without Darren and Dwayne Bravo. Standings
