PowerGen trounce Rousillac in T20
March 31, 2010

DEFENDING CHAMPS PowerGen registered their third straight win in the Carib Twenty20 tournament, by a 113-run margin, over hosts Rousillac United in their Round Four Group “A” clash yesterday.

Powergen posted 180 runs for seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs with Akil Cooper hitting 51, Rondell Ramlochan 37 and Evin Lewis 31, while Bisham Gobin took 2/27 for Rousillac. The hosts were never in the match thereafter, as their batsman were bundled out for 67 in 12.5 overs, with Varoon Samaroo grabbing four wickets for nine runs while Brent Harriott chipped in with 2/27.

Last year’s runners-up W Connection Wanderers cruised to an eight-wicket win over hosts Calcutta Sports Club in a Group “B” clash.

Calcutta were restricted to 123/8 in 20 overs with Guyanese Christopher Barnwell claiming 4/5 in four overs while Amir Ali Nabbie top-scored with 31.

National opener William Perkins blazed his way to 99 as Wanderers replied with 128/2.

One game was rescheduled to April 12, the Group “D” fixture between Canaan/Bon Accord and CLICO Preysal. That change was made due to inter-island flight problems.

Action in Round Five will be contested on April 7.
