April 1, 2010

TRINIDAD and Tobago continued their impressive form in the West Indies Under-15 Championships yesterday beating Barbados by 77 runs at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva.

Middle-order batsman, Brian Christmas played an important innings which enabled the national under-15 team score 240 for nine from their 50 overs. Christmas top scored with 84 runs which came off 75 balls and featured eight boundaries. He built on the solid start of 39 runs by openers Jeremy Solozano (12) and Aleem Khan (26) while captain Vikash Mohan chipped in with 24 runs. Justin Joseph and Jonathan Hirst shared in an eight wicket partnership of 55 runs which frustrated the Bajans. Dario Boyce was the best bowler taking four for 43.

The national Under-15 spinners then bowled the team to their third victory with Jovan Ali, Andy Gobin and Vikash Mohan taking three wicket each. Guyana is the only other unbeaten team in the tournament crushing the Leeward Islands by 10 wickets at Munroe Road Recreational Ground, Cunupia.
