Gasparillo set to win Southern Sports title

GASPARILLO Sports are poised to take the $25,000 first prize in the General Earth Movers Limited Southern Sports Champions Division

GASPARILLO UNITED cruised to a five-wicket victory over Reform and placed themselves firmly in the driver’s seat to win the General Earth Movers Limited Southern Sports Champions Division and $25,000 prize money.

After bowling out Reform for 155, James Trim stroked 42 and Fazard Rojan contributed 39 to take Gasparillo United to 156 for five wickets in reply.

And Malgretoute United are poised to win Division One after also scoring a five-wicket victory over CYO.

Shawn Rampersad took four for 30 and Harripersad Bunsee got three for 40 to rip out CYO for 127, then Shawn Rampersad hit 40 and Nandlal Rampersad 36 to lead Malgretoute to 129 for five.

Adrian Mohammed scored the only century in 11th round action, his 124 lifting Sugar Road Youths to 293 for six wickets to beat Harmony Hall Youth Movement who were bowled out for 217.

Three batsmen missed centuries being out in the nineties , two in Division One and the other in the Parkway Pharmacy Saturday T20 League.

In the Parkway series, Vicky Choon reached 96 in Amateurs Sports’ total of 230 for seven wickets, but was on the winning side as his team held Happy Hits to 190 for six wickets.

Others to miss hundreds were Herman Narine who scored 97 in Surprise Sports 214 for seven to beat City Boys Sports— 205 by nine runs.

And Ramesh Kistow reached 90 for Harmony Hall Youths to lead them to a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Young Guns who totalled 219 for six wickets.
