Guyana trounce Academy XI

Guaracara Park: Guyana bounced back from an opening day shock defeat to overwhelm the TT Cricket Board XI by 83 runs when the T20 Cricket Festival continued on Wednesday at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre.

After winning the toss and electing to bat Guyana accumulated 164 for the loss of eight wickets.

Sewnarine Chattergoon hit an even fifty comprising eight fours and one six and after facing just 35 balls.

The challenging total was also boosted by steady knocks from West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul who fell one short of a century while captain Ramnaresh Sarwan contributed 24.

Yannick Ottey took three wickets for 27 runs and Daniel St Clair picked up two in an otherwise disclipined bowling performance.

The Academy who were beaten on Tuesday by the senior TT team stuttered in their reply and were devasted by fast bowler Andre Stoll and Devindra 8ishoo who both claimed three wickets.
